The USA and UK Ace editions were abridged by an editor in order to reduce length.
Most of the cuts involved the character Stofsky (based on Ginsberg).
The title of the UK edition was changed to The Beat Boys in order that it should not
be confused with a British travel journal called GO.

Meanwhile, John's sister Elizabeth has published a memoir of life with her brother and his friends
in New York City between 1947-1954, of which the Beat Scene Press edition is an extract.
